Ian Cockbains Testimonial year is off and running following a successful launch night at the County Ground, Bristol on the 1st March. The clean-hitting batsman first made his county debut back in August 2011 against Derbyshire, scoring an unbeaten half century in the second innings to see his side home to a comfortable 7 wicket victory.
Snooker legend John Parrott was the speaker for the evening and was in fine fetal as he re-lived some hilarious tales of his time in Snooker, discussing the antics of Alex ‘Hurricane’ Higgins and the like. With the crowd embracing it John moved on swiftly to Question of Sport where he had the audience in pieces, in particular when doing his impression of British Boxer Chris Eubank!

The event was well supported by a number of Gloucestershire die-hard fans, local cricketers and businessmen and women that all seemed to enjoy the night. We all had a lovely 3 course meal, glass or two of the good stuff and a chance to relax in comfortable surroundings.
It was nice to see a presence from a number of Ian’s friends and family from his home City of Liverpool, including Everton footballing superstar Leon Osman!
Having never won anything on a raffle, ever, it was nothing short of a miracle as the lucky ticket was plucked out and to my delight ended up going home with a basket of Arendsig Wines too. Top drawer!
The CiB look forward to supporting Ian at future events,
Thanks for reading, JR.
(It’s true! Here is the raffle prize!)
