We were delighted to attend the official opening of the Lords Taverners Western Region yesterday evening, held at the Watershed in Bristol.
It was brilliant to see so many there to support the event, a combination of local cricketers and business men and women.
Tom Warner, Regional Development Manager for the charity, presented to the audience and gave an insight and overview of the Lords Taverners proud history. This included the remarkable Wicketz and Super 1’s projects, before introducing new Chairman for the Western Region John Courtney. John explained his duties and demonstrated real passion for the role, which he hopes will help drive the regions fundraising efforts. John plans to host number of events and is looking for volunteers who may be wishing to help drive it forward.
John Courtney was delighted with the launch and told us “It’s an honour to have taken the role of Chairman and I am looking forward to it immensely. The Lord’s Taverners is the UK’s leading youth cricket and disability sports charity, and will be celebrating its 70th birthday in 2020. It was great to see so many turn up last night and my thanks go to Ovation (main sponsor) and the Watershed for its excellent hospitality.”
