Mark Sage

A Cricketer…

Fascinated by cricket at a young age when Somerset CCC played a Hallam Mosely testimonial at Timsbury CC which included Richards, Botham and Garner amongst others. Picked up by Somerset and Avon County age groups through to u19s whilst always recognising that a county career was unlikely for a medium pacer who wobbled it a bit. Joined Bath CC in 1989 from Timsbury CC and had 11 great years in the first team featuring in two National Cup finals at Lords in 1991 and 2001. Sadly having bowled without a classical action for years injury set in and a return to Timsbury to pursue a career as a batter beckoned and led to a further Lords final in the National Village competition in 2006 where he was named Man of the match despite losing the game. An MCC member and recent tourist of Mexico and Belize.

In Business…

Mark is now a Legal Director at TLT LLP where he works as a Family Lawyer assisting couples in addressing financial ramifications from a separation or divorce. Based in the centre of Bristol but often travelling to London and Manchester offices his client base is wide and varied from High profile sports personalities to business owners to expat individuals. Recognising that sport can lead to troubles within relationships but also bring together individuals who are like minded who want to trust a known individual with dealing with often very personal circumstances Mark recognises that many contacts are made through sport and referrals made on that basis.

Question time!

Batting?  Left Hand opener, playing T20 style before it was invented

Bowling? Right arm for about 6 overs per year before injury sets in.

Where would you be found in the field? Mid on or off, so I can see it coming

Most scared whilst batting? Facing James’ slowest of slow off spin with 100 yard boundaries hitting against wind!

New or old ball bowler? Loved bowling at anyone right handed, nowadays not want to bowl at all.

Still playing? Yes at Timsbury CC but no longer captain after 12 years at the helm
Best away ground – North Parade Bath

A funny cricket memory?  coming soon
